ABOUT TARA
Tara is “Event Manager” at Beavis (now owned by Tara, her sister Ashton and their husbands). “We have been a small family business in the community for many years and have big shoes to fill following the foot steps of our grandfather, father and uncle”.
Tara met her husband Nathan while working at Beavis together. Their wedding was featured in Ed22 – you can see it here. They have a gorgeous little boy William and another baby boy on the way.
Tara is also a qualified Beauty Therapist and has a lovely home day spa in Brandy Hill. “We live in a beautiful remote area surrounded by nature at its absolute best – it was the perfect place for my salon”.
ABOUT BEAVIS “YOUR EVENT TEAM”
The Beavis family have been proud members of the Maitland community for over 60 years. Beavis “Your Event Team” was started 15 years ago by Tara’s parents. “They changed the structure of the business from general equipment hire, into events. This was a big change in such an evolving world… no two days are ever the same”.
Beavis specialises in marquees and a large range of furniture, with hire items for all functions from weddings, parties, corporate, field day’s and large community events. “We love getting to meet new clients, getting to know them and watching their event come to life. We work with some of the most talented vendors – and to see the end results brings so much excitement”.
ABOUT WEDDINGS
Tara is seeing a lot of boldness coming through the industry – with many clients going completely different to what is typically on trend. “We love seeing couples break out of typical wedding trends, doing their own style and take on the order of the day – not being so strict in what they “have to do”, to what they actually “wish to do”.
TIPS FOR COUPLES
Tara’s advice for couples planning their wedding is to take it all in and enjoy the process and the planning. “The Hunter has so many incredible and talented vendors to help with any stage of your event. Let them help you and use their expertise where they can”.

What was your first job?
Technically my first job was in the family business doing filing at a very young age.
If you weren’t doing this what would you do (or like to do) instead?
I am very lucky to be doing what I love. I work in events during the day, and am a Beauty Therapist for my own business by night. Blessed to have the best of both worlds.
All-time favourite set up you have done?
Not being biased, but it would have been my own personal wedding, which was August 2019. We had the most amazing list of vendors that did an epic installation that we could have only imagined.
If you were having an event for yourself what theme would you choose?
We are very moody in colour choices – deep rich burgundies, gold and pinks.
Favourite season for weddings in the Hunter and why?
Winter is just the most gorgeous time of the year in the Hunter. Gorgeous winter days and stunning winter light…what is better than that!
Do you have any pets?
We have a schmoodle who is 4 years old – her name is Lacey-Jayne.
What is your favourite colour palette?
White/burgundy/gold and pinks.
Best way to spend the weekend?
Spending the weekend with my little family, discovering and supporting all of our amazing local Hunter businesses. Nothing better than a weekend full of good food, amazing weather and great company.
Favourite holiday destination?
We love Melbourne. It is our favourite place for a weekend away – but we are wanting to explore New Zealand in the next few years.
What do you love about the Hunter?
The Hunter Region is such a beautiful area to live. We have everything at our finger tips. I love that there is a real community feel to the area and everyone is so supportive of local companies.
