Looking for childcare services for your event?
Let us introduce you to Michelle from Wedding & Event Childcare Services! Michelle is a Montessori trained teacher with 20 years childcare and education experience, she has created a childcare service that specialises in wedding and events across the Hunter!
Engaging childcare services for your event allows children to be a part of the celebrations but takes the pressure off parents (and you!) so the adults can relax and enjoy your function while their children are being cared for!
“We ensure your children are integrated into the celebrations where appropriate. Children will be effectively supervised by educators, who engage in meaningful interactions with the children”
Michelle and her team provide fun activities to correspond to each child’s age, development and capabilities. “I want to help each child to be invested in their natural environment and awareness of the importance of inclusion and diversity. We often use objects from nature as part of our play and learning experiences. Natural resources stimulate children’s creativity and imagination and can be used in so many fun and fascinating ways.”
To help make planning a little easier they also provide “Childcare Invitation Cards” which can be sent to your guests so that they can contact the team directly to take care of any childcare requirements.
What was your first job? Junior retail assistant each weekend in a video shop.
Where did you grow up? Smithfield, NSW. I was raised by a loving single father that provided us with an abundance of opportunities to explore our outdoor environment.
If you weren’t doing this, what would you do instead? Provide a young mothers and baby program.
How do you describe your style of childcare? I am a passionate Montessori trained teacher that has each child’s interests and well-being at heart.
Favourite children’s book? Wombat Stew! Author Marcia Vaughan. I buy Australian literature. Australian writers have always featured strong characters, strong visual imagery and a connection with the people and the land.
Favourite children’s activity? Daily living experiences to engage the child in purposeful and meaningful activities to develop independence and social and emotional growth.
Favourite children’s movie? Mrs Doubtfire – I sometimes even feel like her when I’m reading a bedtime story to the children! Lol.
Favourite children’s song? People all around the world; (ways to say hello in different languages).
Holiday destination (where you have been or where you would like to go)?
The Cook Islands! The people and their value of family and maintaining their culture is truly inspiring.
Favourite thing about the Hunter region? The country setting in the Hunter Valley and the native wildlife and fauna.
“Michelle provided childcare at our wedding. She did an amazing job and ensured that the children were looked after! The kids absolutely loved her, she provided lots of fun activities and beds for when they were tired. Having Michelle there put our minds at ease knowing the kids were cared for so we could enjoy our night. Thank you so much Michelle, you did a fantastic job!” – Stefanie
