JADE MCINTOSH – Jade McIntosh Flowers

Let us introduce you to florist Jade McIntosh

Jade has worked as a florist for over 20 years now and her business and personal skill set continue to evolve. She has an absolute passion for learning and is dedicated to being the best she can be – both professionally and personally. Whether its working with mentors, podcasts, webinars – she is a wealth of information when it comes to the local wedding scene.

“I am a big believer in the power of positive thinking. You can do anything you put your mind to.”

When Jade isn’t working, she loves the simple things in life…a pot of chai tea in the sun, swimming in the ocean, hanging out with her daughter and dogs, eating chocolate and planning her next holiday.

Jade previously owned a retail florist shop in The Junction, Newcastle for a number of years. When Jade sold the business, she kept the wedding bookings – and realised just how much she loved this side of the business.

20 years on, Jade now specialises in wedding florals and is highly regarded by her customers, as well as her wedding industry peers. It is this reputation that has seen the business branch out into other celebratory and corporate events, product launches and styled shoots.

Jade is always striving to offer a unique experience with exceptional customer service – and she delivers this time and time again. A perfect example of this is the creation of sister business – White Roses Styling – which offers styling and prop / furniture hire. A great add on service for her clients.

The continued growth of the business has seen the business move from a home-based studio, to an industrial warehouse workspace! And Jade hasn’t looked back.

Jade has a very distinct style when it comes to her wedding day florals.

“Nothing too perfect…organic and unstructured is how I would describe it. I tend to switch between classic and modern, to rustic native.”

Without a doubt, Jade can see a strong wedding trend towards everlasting and preserved foliages – particularly combined with the classics such as roses and elegant phalaenopsis orchids.

“I’m in love with statement arches/ceremony backdrops and ceiling/room florals (not just on tables). Most of what is created for the ceremony can also be repurposed into the reception. This ensures a consistent style and is also cost effective too.”

Jade’s advice for couples planning their wedding is to never choose your florist purely on the price of their quote. “It’s so important to love their style, their personality, and all round resonate with their business. If you feel you trust and can rely on them, other aspects can be worked out as a team.”

QUICK QUIZ with Jade

What was your first job?
A Woolies checkout chick (& even then I was noticing the fresh flowers that came into the store).

If you weren’t doing this what would you do (or like to do) instead?
Mostly likely something involving travel or renovating and styling houses.

What is your favourite flower?
Do you only want ONE???? I can’t actually answer this…there are far too many!

Favourite season for weddings in the Hunter?
Autumn. The midday sun is so warm, but the evenings much milder. It’s a nice combination for perfect wedding day weather and we get some amazing sunsets. I also love seeing all the native grasses bring colour to the paddocks and the vine leaves change colour and end up bare.

Do you have any pets?
Inca (a 6yr old Akita) and Alfie (a 10yr old Malamute). They have their own Instagram – @incyandalfie

What is your favourite colour palette?
At the moment I’m very partial to ochre/turmeric/sage greens – the earthy, rusty burnt oranges. But I can never go past a classic palette of white/green or white/cream/blush…absolutely timeless.

What is your favourite food / drink?
Vietnamese pho bo and Chai tea.

Best way to spend the weekend?
Well let’s call it a mid week ‘weekend’ for starters as I would be lucky to have a handful of weekends off a year (in non covid times).

It usually involves a spontaneous getaway somewhere beachy or the bush, where I can live in my swimmers, or just lie under the trees and chill. I’m a big fan of Jimmy’s beach for it’s proximity.

Favourite holiday destination?
This is in the same category as asking me my fav flower!! Impossible! I’m a big fan of south east Asia and really love Vietnam.

I’ve been planning a trip to Egypt for a while, but until things settle my next trip is likely to be Perth to see family and do a bit more of the West coast, discovering the wildflowers around Kalbarri and Geraldton.

What do you love about the Hunter?
I always feel relaxed when I hit the Hunter. The scenery is picturesque and it’s such a lovely place for a getaway…Winter fire with red wine.

Jade McIntosh Flowers Bouquet

“Can not recommend Jade McIntosh Flowers highly enough. So professional and easy to communicate with from the word go. The flowers they did for my wedding were AMAZING!!”
Kayla and Ben

“Jade and her team put together the most amazing flowers for our wedding. Jade was warm and professional to deal with from the start and really understood our vision for the day. Communication was excellent and my wife never had difficulty reaching them. The team showed up exactly when they said they would be there on our wedding day and delivered everything where they said they would. We were so blown away when we saw the bouquets on the day, they were so beautiful and exactly what I had imagined when I first spoke to Jade. The buttonholes and my mother’s corsage coordinated beautifully with the bouquets and with the colour scheme of the bridal party. The arbour and top table were phenomenal and exceeded my expectations. We were also so touched that the team left a wedding card for us! I am so happy we booked Jade, she and her team are so talented and absolutely lovely to deal with.”
