RECEPTION
The Concert Hall is a grand auditorium, perfect for weddings from 100 to 320 guests. Its breathtaking 14-metre-high carved ceiling provide a dramatic and beautiful atmosphere for your wedding reception. Located on the first floor, the Concert Hall is complemented by the Cummings Room. Here your guests can arrive and enjoy canapés and drinks before you make your first entrance into the Concert Hall as a married couple.
The Hunter Room is located on the top floor of Newcastle City Hall. Your guests will arrive to canapés and champagne on our sandstone balcony overlooking Civic Park. Moving into the Hunter Room, you will dine in elegance enjoying views over Civic Park, through beautiful high arched windows. Dance the night away on the built-in polished timber dance floor. Accommodating 100 guests banquet style, the Hunter Room is ideal for the couple creating an intimate evening.
CEREMONY
Overlooking the groomed gardens of Civic Park, the Hunter Room Balcony is quintessentially Newcastle. High arched windows create drama before stepping out onto the balcony overlooking Civic Park Fountain.
FOOD & DRINKS
Our in-house catering team, headed up by our Executive Chef, provides couples with quality locally-sourced produce and delicious dining options that can be tailored to suit your needs. With cocktail, two course or three course packages available, along with a selection of enhancements to make your event as unique as you are, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to hospitality. A sample menu might see your guests served a delicious dry salt brined smoked duck breast with a cherry compote, parsnip puree & savory granola followed by a charred eye fillet, parsnip puree, blistered tomatoes & merlot jus, finished with a duo of dark chocolate torte & mousse with raspberry coulis & hazelnut praline. While our menus have been carefully designed to provide a variety of flavourful options with various exotic influences, all efforts can be made to accommodate a range of special dietary and cultural requirements.
Our standard beverage package includes all strengths of beer, a selection of local wines and non-alcoholic beverages, along with locally roasted coffee and premium leaf teas. Upgrade to the Hunter beverage package to sample a wider showcase of the region’s best beers, ciders and wines, including craft favourites Good Folk, Modus, Tilse’s apple cider and Margan rosé.

The City Hall events team have seen it all when it comes to reimagining the iconic space. From styling that relies on the grand art deco architecture to support understated floral flourishes, to full lighting and draping, nearly anything is possible. Whether it’s grand romance, a pastel paradise, all white wonder or some theme in between, please discuss your vision with us. Our team can also guide you to a local and experienced theming company to manage every décor detail.
